I've had this Jinhao 10 Press for a month and the converter is dry. I wrote with it a little on most days but not so much I would have used up all the ink. Mostly little annotations. It already had been hard starting when left sitting a day or two (e.g. weekend). So the sealing is a bit worse than expected.

Compare that to Pilot VP, or Majohn A1 & A2 which I re-inked 2 months ago. All three still write on the first stroke even after being left for days.

In its defense(?) the way the converter fits in there is no way to tell how much ink made it into the converter. Maybe it has CON-40 syndrome and barely gets any ink. All you see is the plunger, not the ink level. I should have weighed it when empty/full.

If I shine a light over the tip I see spots of light through the trap door. That doesn't happen on VP/A1/A2. Definitely not good.

For now I'll re-ink it with the same ink it had, since I like the pen, but I'll be keeping a closer eye on it.

I cleaned out the barrel inside and around the trap door outside, messed with the spring/door alignment slightly, but still can see tiny spots of light through it. So I don't think it will improve this time but still worth another chance.
