I have been repeatedly disappointed by my red Jinhao 10 so I decided to do the proper thing and replace it with a Vanishing Point. Went with a Decimo since I wanted to try one and also it was the only red VP with an EF nib at JetPens. It's quite a bit lighter (20g, compared to 30g for VP/J10/A1), and it's a little shorter and thinner.

Inked it up with Red Dragon and it writes just as well as expected, maybe even a little thinner.

Photo of a fountain pen and two writing samples from the top down. The fountain pen is a capless style with a dark red body and silver tip and trim. Both writing samples read "Pilot Vanishing Point Decimo - Burgundy / Diamine Wild Strawberry" and both are in bright red ink. The top sample is on Iroful dot grid paper which is nearly white. The bottom sample is on Midori MD paper and is more of a cream color. The Iroful sample is slightly thicker and darker read.

Photo of two similar capless fountain pens next to each other, oriented horizontally. The top fountain pen is a Pilot Vanishing Point in "Gun Metal Matte Black". It is slightly larger around and slightly longer than the bottom pen. The bottom fountain pen is a Pilot Vanishing Point Decimo in "Burgundy". It has a dark red body and silver tip and trim. It is slightly narrower around and shorter than the top pen.

Had more time for this so I used my SLR for photos instead of my phone. Also had to learn a bit in digiKam about adjusting color/white balance and so on because my camera picked the wrong color temp for the ring light I used and was way off and I didn't notice on the camera display.
