I put blotting paper behind notebook pages to catch bleed-through, as bookmarks, and protection so I don't have to worry about closing notebooks before the ink is 100% dry.

I usually use sheets of Herbin blotting paper, but its size, 120x190mm, is not ideal in notebooks. However, it can be cut into strips that exactly fit my matching blotter handle.

I wanted sheets a bit larger, so I ordered two different kinds that were labeled A5: JetPens Kanso and Sakae.

The JetPens Kanso A5 blotting paper seems to be the best for my use in notebooks. It's full A5 size so sticks out a little in notebooks, but it covers to the edge of the page and beyond. It's fairly thick and opaque. Only slightly thinner than the Herbin.

The Sakae "A5" sheets are very thin and 5mm short of A5 in both directions. It fits better in notebooks, but doesn't get all the way to the edges so may need more care in placement. Also very thin so I doubt its absorption.

Photo of three overlapping sheets of blotting paper. The Herbin in the back has a pen and quill design and lettering. The Sakae paper at the bottom shows some of the Herbin design indicating how transparent it is. The Kanso paper on the left has a square "KANSO" logo in the corner and is thick enough that it's opaque.
Photo of three sheets of blotting paper aligned to the bottom right. The Herbin on top is the smallest. The Sakae paper behind that is a bit taller and much wider. The Kanso paper in the very back is slightly taller and wider than the Sakae paper.
