This Jinhao X750 with Flex nib was only $12.40(!) on AliExpress, though now the price has gone up a bit, it’s about $20 discounted from $30. Even at that price it’s worth checking out.

Close up of the flex nib, which is black. It has a mountain peak style jagged line near the tip and some etched lines and holes lower down that look like shoelaces.

It’s great so far! The nib has a good “bouncy” soft flex to it; it doesn’t take a ton of pressure to flex, but not a wet noodle.

It was labeled “Fluorescent Black” but it doesn’t actually seem to be fluorescent, though it has a cool starry kinda look from having just a little shimmer evenly distributed around the coating.

Close angle of the pen cap. The pen is black with a little sparkle giving it a slight starry night sky look. The trim is silver, and "Jinhao" can be read in the band around the center.

It’s not going to beat the Pilot Custom Heritage 912 FA nib, and it’s still a converter so my Jaipur v2 pens with flex nibs win on capacity, but for the price it’s an excellent entry point for a flex nib. I have a flex nib from Osprey that doesn’t flex this much and takes way more pressure.

Whole view of the fountain pen. The pen is black with a little sparkle giving it a slight starry night sky look.

No flow issues so far with Iroshizuku ink, it did railroad briefly once (in the “Y” on “Yama-budo”), but not much. It also only happened once in two of these note sheets since this was the second time I wrote it all out.

Fountain pen and writing sample. The pen is black with a little sparkle giving it a slight starry night sky look. The writing sample reads "Jinhao X750 / Flex Nib / Fluorescent Black / Pilot Iroshizuku / Yama-budo" followed by various lines and curlicues. The ink is dark fuchsia with gold sheen visible in several places.

It puts out enough ink to show the sheen in Yama-budo on MD paper which takes a lot, but I’m not sure how it would do with dry inks. Posts from others suggest it may not do well.
