I took a chance and threw a couple bucks at a shiny (literally) new Red Jinhao 10 Press capless fountain pen.

I haven't seen anyone else post one in this color yet, just the black and white. The red looks excellent in person. It's dark and shiny and very eye-catching. EF is smooth and thin, mechanism seems good and comparable to its peers

Hopefully it seals well, otherwise it'll end up in the dungeon/stasis chamber.

Photo of a fountain pen next to a bottle of ink. The bottle of ink is square-ish and reads "Fountain Pen Inks by Diamine" and "Wild Strawberry". The fountain pen is dark red and shiny with a silver tip, silver clip, silver ring approximately halfway down the body, and a silver tail end. The pen is capless and resembles a Pilot Vanishing Point. The nib is retracted and not visible.

Photo of a fountain pen next to a bottle of ink, close-up. The bottle of ink is square-ish and the only visible text reads "berry". The fountain pen is dark red and shiny with a silver ring approximately in its center. In the ring is some writing: "JINHAO" in all capital letters.
Photo of a fountain pen next to a bottle of ink. The bottle of ink is square-ish and partially visible, the visible text reads "Wild S". The fountain pen is dark red and shiny with a silver tip and silver clip. The pen is capless and resembles a Pilot Vanishing Point. The nib is extended and visible, coming to a sharp point at the tip.

Here is how the Jinhao 10 Press looks next to a Majohn A2, Majohn A1, and a proper Pilot Vanishing Point. It fits right in. They are similar, sure, but you can easily tell them all apart by the trim and design. The Jinhao is on par with the Majohns. VP still wins but it's not really a fair comparison.

Photo of four fountain pens, placed vertically and partially visible. Photo is focused on the tips of the pens. From left to right they are: * Majohn A2 which is a flat blue-gray color with black trim and a faceted surface. * Majohn A1 in a dark shiny metallic blue color with silver trim and smooth surface. * Jinhao 10 Press in dark shiny red color with silver trim. * Pilot Vanishing Point in Blue Carbonesque pattern which is dark blue with a repeating pattern of lighter blue hashed-like splotches. The surface is slightly textured. It has silver trim. The tip of all four pens looks eerily similar, but there are slight variations in the rings and clips.
Photo of four fountain pens, placed horizontally and partially visible. Photo is focused on the tips of the pens with the nibs extended. From top to bottom they are: * Majohn A2 which is a flat blue-gray color with black trim and a faceted surface. The nib is silver and very pointy and extends slightly farther than the other pens. * Majohn A1 in a dark shiny metallic blue color with silver trim and smooth surface. The nib is silver and pointy and has a few splotches of blue ink on it. * Jinhao 10 Press in dark shiny red color with silver trim. The nib is silver and pointy, but clean, other than the ink it's approximately the same as the A1. * Pilot Vanishing Point in Blue Carbonesque pattern which is dark blue with a repeating pattern of lighter blue hashed-like splotches. The surface is slightly textured. It has silver trim. The nib looks significantly different to the others, it has a stub end and a large visible breather hole.
Photo of four fountain pens, placed horizontally and fully visible. From top to bottom they are: * Majohn A2 which is a flat blue-gray color with black trim and a faceted surface. Each pen has slightly different trim in various ways, the shapes are a little different than one another but still similar.
