Happy Fountain Pen Day!

New stuff! Platinum Preppy Wa Edo-Monogatari in Purple / Neko inked with Akkerman #13 Simplisties Violet. My first Akkerman ink. The bottles are neat! They look cool and the top is an inkwell sealed off by a marble. Main problem is they're tall and won't stack, so storage is tricky. The ink seems good so far, especially the color.

The new Preppy is as good as ever, and can't go wrong with cats, however The printing on the barrel of the Preppy has a rough texture to it, and it has a slight sparkle/shimmer.

The Preppy Wa I have from last year didn't have a texture to the images, but these are the only Preppy Wa pens I have so I'm not sure if other designs from last year or this year have that.

It doesn't bother me, but I know some people are very sensitive to certain textures so it may not be comfortable to write with in that case.

Photo of a fountain pen, ink bottle, and note paper with a writing sample all on a wooden table. The fountain pen is a Platinum Preppy Wa Edo-Monogatari "Neko". It has a transparent purple body that has images of cats playing all over the barrel. It has a clear cap. The ink bottle is octagonal at the base, then rises up to a narrow "waist" then changes to a cylinder at the top which extends up several cm to the cap. The writing sample reads "Platinum Preppy Wa Edo-Monogatari / Neko - Fine (03) / Akkerman #13 Simplisities Violet" -- The ink is a shade of purple/violet which is close to the pen. There is an obvious correction where the middle "s" in "Simplisities" was changed from a "c".
Close up of the ink bottle, pen, and writing sample showing that the color of the ink and pen are a fairly close match.
Close-up photo of the pen showing several cats in various poses. One is curled up sleeping, one is laying down stretched out with its head up. One is sitting. Some texture is visible in the cats, making them sparkle slightly.
