Cleaned out a couple fountain pens that dried out and at least for two of them I'm blaming the ink+pen combo and giving them another chance. The third gets a pass because I like it and it took 6 months to happen. Not ideal, but not awful.
One was not only dry, but so clogged it took a long soak in warm water just to get anything at all to pass through the feed+nib even with a bulb syringe. That's the worst I've had to clean thus far by a long shot.
The pens in question are:
Hongdian 1861 Brass w/Endless Alchemy Candy Sea - This is the one that was clogged. Re-inked w/PI Fuyu-Gaki.
Hongdian Black Forest Pro Carbon Fiber w/GvFC Carbon Black - I'm trying to rule out the ink being the problem vs the pen. Re-Inked w/PI Kon-Peki to see if it makes a difference.
Jinhao 80 w/Diamine Sapphire Blue - This one had some use, but not much, and sat for weeks at a time. I just refilled w/DSB.
These are not the first Hongdians to dry out on me, either. At least the ones in the Black Forest/1861 style. I like the way the pens feel and write, and they seem to be well-constructed, but they don't seal all that well.
I have had much better luck with other styles from Hongdian, like the C1, M1, N7, N11, and 1843.
