I am happy to report that after three weeks with the Jinhao 20 and using it every day, it has worked perfectly the whole time. Zero hard starts or drying.

Now I should probably let it sit for a week and see if it's still OK.

Apparently I picked a bad time to test the Jinhao 20 this way. I waited a week and a half and it hard started a little but wrote, but I pulled the converter and it was almost empty, but still wet around the edges, not dried out. I should have filled it at least partway before letting it sit. I think I had nearly emptied it before letting it sit. Oops. I'll load it back up and test it again.

Still better than any of the Jinhao 10 pens.
