Caved and bought a Platinum Curidas in Abyss Blue. Ticked too many boxes to pass it over (Capless, demonstrator, blue, EF, Platinum).

First impression is that it's gigantic and fiddly, but it writes well. Very over-engineered mechanism that feels like it could be fragile, but it keeps the trap door away from the nib entirely, which is nice.

That said, it's not heavy. 29g full which is about the same as a VP. But it is wider and much longer. Even longer than the A3.

Photo of a Platinum Curidas capless fountain pen on a piece of paper with a writing sample. Only the front half of the pen is visible. The pen body is transparent dark blue, allowing parts of the mechanism to be seen through the plastic. There is a silver clip and a silver ring in the middle where the parts of the pen body meet. The writing sample says "Platinum Curidas EF / Diamine Sapphire Blue" in blurple ink.

Photo of a Platinum Curidas capless fountain pen on a gray background. The pen is disassembled. At the top of the photo are the two halves of the pen body. The pen body is transparent dark blue, allowing parts of the mechanism to be seen through the plastic. There is a silver clip and a silver ring in the middle where the parts of the pen body meet. Beneath the rear of the pen body is a silver frame that goes over the converter. It has a gray plastic ring around it that has a nub. Beneath that is the nib unit with a converter connected.
Photo of several fountain pens on a wooden table. They are arranged from shortest to longest. In order, they are: - Pilot Vanishing Point Decimo (Red with Silver trip) - Pilot Vanishing Point (Gun metal with matte black trim) - Endless Phantom (Clear demonstrator) - Majohn A3 (White with matte black trim) - Platinum Curidas (transparent dark blue with silver trim) The Curidas is the longest by over 1cm
