Forgot about my Jinhao 10 seal experiments for a while. Today I added some silicone grease around the rim of the trapdoor seal from the inside on my Coffee Gradient Jinhao 10. Not the part that contacts the door, but the ring around the inside where it meets the body. We'll see if that helps. I inked it up with a sample I didn't care to waste if it didn't work out (Vanness Possum Pie).
Now, we wait.
I used a 100mm/4" blunt syringe tip to reach all the way through from the non-tip end of the front section of the pen body.
21GA was too narrow and I couldn't pick up any silicone grease with it. 25GA just barely picked up enough to get the job done. I pulled back a bit, then disconnected the tip, drew in some air, then put the tip back on to push out a little as needed.
There was also just barely enough room to keep the endoscope cam in while watching what I did, which helped.
Well, that didn't take long. The Jinhao 10 wouldn't write this morning. Even when I wet the nib it still hard starts and skips. It was OK for yesterday afternoon as I used it several times before the end of the day.
It's possible I messed up the actual trap door seal messing with it while figuring out how to apply the inner seal stuff.
I don't see any light getting in the trap door or around the edges like I did in the past, so it may be something else entirely this time, too.
