Ink Swatch - Parker Quink - Purple

Time for Parker Quink Purple, the second of a few Parker Quink mini cartridges I swatched, which was tricky.

This is a very bright and grape-like purple with some shading and very bright green sheen. The sheen can be is visible, but it doesn’t take over.

Scans

The scans came out maybe a touch darker than the other pictures, but they’re still close. The shading is especially prominent on Iroful. The sheen is so bright it’s still visible here on all the papers even though scans usually don’t show sheen much at all.

Photos

The green sheen is exceptionally bright, which does make a good contrast with the purple of the ink.

Microscope

The sheen is very visible under the microscope, but it’s not pervasive. When it does show, it mostly sticks to edges and borders between different levels of ink.

The shading is especially noticeable on Iroful.

Chromatography

The chromatography only shows purple near the end, so not a lot to see.

Under UV, however, it glows bright red!

UV Check

Under Iroful, the text and swatch both glow blue, though not very brightly. On Iroful, it glows pink in some places and blue in others.

Verdict

I enjoy the color of this one a lot, but I’m not completely sold on the green sheen. Thankfully it doesn’t show up most of the time.

On some papers it is similar to Akkerman #13 Simplisties Violet, but not quite as interesting since there is less variation between papers. However, that ink only has a faint purple glow under UV while this glows bright red.
