Pilot Iroshizuku Rikka (“snow crystal”) is a difficult color to nail down because it looks a bit different on each paper, teal in some cases and closer to cerulean blue in others. It has some red sheen and a little shading.
Scans
It’s easy to see on the scans how it’s all over the place, color-wise. On Col-o-ring it’s a dark teal, on MD it’s a little lighter tint of teal and more green, while on Iroful it’s much more blue and less green. That said, the scans are a bit more green overall than the other photos.
Photos
The red sheen shows quite a bit in the large swatches but it isn’t noticeable in the writing.
Microscope
The red sheen sticks to the edges of lines and boundaries between heavy and light areas of ink. Again, the difference in ink color between papers is striking. Iroful is much more blue.
Chromatography
It starts blue, then cyan, and then after a gap is a narrow band of yellow.
There is a bright blue glow past the leading edge, but it didn’t result in any noticeable glow on the swatches.
Verdict
As with all the Iroshizuku inks I’ve used, it’s reliably well-behaved. That said, teal isn’t a color I usually prefer, but the lighter blue-green color it shows on Iroful is nice.
