Monteverde - Documental Permanent Ink - Blue, often called “Monteverde Documental Blue” or “Document Blue”, is a waterproof pigment-based permanent medium blue ink with red sheen.
This is a pigment-based ink, which can create problems for a pen if it dries inside. Only use this ink in a pen that seals exceptionally well, or flush and clean it frequently.
Scans
The large swatches on Col-o-ring and MD look more purple while Iroful looks more blue, but the photos will show why.
The writing on col-o-ring and MD is a bit lighter than Iroful, which looks more saturated.
Photos
The red sheen is heavy across all the large swatches but it seems to be completely covering col-o-ring and mostly covering MD. However, as this is a pigment ink the whole large swatch is shiny from the ink itself in addition to the sheen so it’s hard to discern which is shinier.
The writing on Iroful is especially shiny. On col-o-ring and MD it isn’t quite as shiny, but the writing appears more purple.
Microscope
Col-o-ring and MD look practically purple, but areas of blue are mixed in with the red sheen. On Iroful the blue is more prominent and all over the background while the foreground fibers looks red and shiny, resulting in some areas appearing purple.
Chromatography
Chromatography is a very dark blue line with only a tiny amount of spread, as is typical with pigment and water-resistant inks. There is a gold line far, far away showing that it was in the water for a while.
There is a faint blue glow in the area after the ink stops and it ends in a blue line where the gold line was. There wasn’t any glow on the swatches.
Verdict
I like the way this one looks, but I don’t often use pigment inks. It writes fine and is very water-reistant, but I have had this ink stain some converters and pens/feeds.
