Ink Swatch - Graf von Faber-Castell - Violet Blue

Graf von Faber-Castell Violet Blue is a lavender ink with a plenty of shading and a hint of blue chromashading.

As with the other Graf von Faber-Castell inks I’ve posted about, the product listing says it is “document proof” so it has some water resistance.

Scans

There is significant shading on Iroful and in the large swatch there is some blue coming out. Similar story on MD, there is blue showing in the large swatch at the edge of heavy ink areas.

Photos

There is a tiny bit of coppery sheen on Iroful, but nothing notable on the others.

No sheen at all in the writing, but check out that shading.

Microscope

No sign of sheen except on Iroful in the large swatch.

You can see some blue in the shading on Iroful, but it’s not coming through much to the eye on regular writing.

Chromatography

It starts with a thick purple line that fades into magenta quickly. As with the other GvFC inks it does suggest they have some water resistance.

Under UV there is only a thin glowing line of blue, nothing in the swatches.

Verdict

I only have a sample of this which I received during last year’s Fountain Pen Secret Santa gift exchange. I have been using this for a while in a Kakuno with a transplanted CM nib and it’s worked wonderfully there. It even behaved well on the Sunny Log Note paper that I didn’t like because it was very absorbent.
