Pilot Iroshizuku Kon-peki (“azure”) is a pleasant medium blue with red sheen and a little shading. It’s a fairly standard ink, nothing too surprising here. Like many other Iroshizuku inks, it is trouble-free and writes wetter than average.
Scans
The color is reasonably consistent across all three papers, though for a twist it’s a little lighter on col-o-ring than the others.
Photos
The red sheen is very present in the large swatches, but not the writing.
Microscope
Under magnification, the sheen is just barely there on the edges of lines in writing, but all over the large swatches.
Chromatography
It starts blue, then cyan, and then a little more blue again at the leading edge. There’s a thin gold line past that point as well.
The area past the leading edge of blue and up to the line glows brightly, but it didn’t result in a noticeable effect on the swatches.
Verdict
If you’re looking for a standard “blue” ink, this is a fine choice. I use this constantly, so much so that it’s getting harder to fill pens out of my 30ml bottle, so I might need a new (bigger!) bottle soon.
